Community Murals

In response to the COVID and the need to practice social distancing we could not do our normal events so we shifted to commissioning artist to create large public murals in various communities in Austin. While our park is still under construction we still wanted to bring the HOPE Outdoor Gallery to Austin to uplift the community during this time.

We commissioned ten artists to create three murals in South and Central Austin.

South Lamar Mural located at 900 South Lamar mural to inspire and bring joy. HOPE Artists came together and created a mural that strives to represent a call to action and a promise to lift each other up, live together with respect, grow and view days with a new perspective and optimism.

Native Hostel, located at 807 E 4th St, we commissioned four artists to paint two murals. “A Moment to Grow” was painted by Brittany Johnston and ER. The artist describes the mural as a reminder “that even as this year has been strange for us all, we hope it has been one full of growth for you, as it has been for me. Take the time, slow down, pay attention and let yourself flourish,” and we could not agree more with Britt and ER.

The second mural was painted by Mez Data and Kimie Flores. Their mural was a merger of two incredible styles to inspire hope, optimism and growth.
